This summer has been filled with adventures, so many blessings and lots of 'first's'. Every since I was a little girl I had dreamt of going to New York (well, when I was young my dream was to live there, that has since changed) and this summer we did just that! We ate lunch at the famous Katz's Deli having a verity of pickles and pastrami, it was a fun environment. God opened an opportunity for us to spend one whole day there. He went above anything we could have imagined, providing us with a tour guide who took us through Manhattan and giving us a incredible suite in New Jersey that cost less than dinner for our family! I am so Grateful to the Lord for this blessing.
After our visit in New York we headed to DC for two weeks where we were again blessed by our cousin Steve and his hospitality. He was our personal tour guide with a wealth of history for the kids and for us. Steve introduced us to Iranian cuisine, gazpacho (amazing), and I was really enjoyed all of his meals. We all had our favorite moments of DC and mine was just taking everything in, I LOVED the history coming to life.
On our way home from DC we spent time in Pennsylvania were we had sweet fellowship with our friends Sandra and Dave. She made us a authentic African meal, we were so grateful and it was exciting to try it. We also had a chance to reconnect with family which was wonderful. While visiting their house we experienced Fireflies (they call them lighting bugs here)!!! Once again God never ceases to amaze me with His Glory. For a brief moment He brought the stars down for us to catch, and in those moments I was like my children running around laughing, catching the flickering lights in my hand and in awe of God's creation.
When we headed back we went straight into VBS for the week. It was a blessing to be a part of the VBS at Horizon. They stayed focused on the truth of God's word in their teaching and I enjoyed watching how well they organized everything. Friday VBS ended and Saturday we took a train to Chicago with 20 others from church.
We arrived in Chicago and ate a Chicago style pizza (it is different, the sauce is on top), we then took a cab to the Navy Pier, walked down to Michigan Ave and then had a Chicago Dog (Yummy!) and took another cab back to the train station.
Besides going to all of the new places and enjoying all of the new food, here are some of our first's that the kids still treasure. Metro train from NJ to NY, Subway, city Metro buss, riding the Amtrak and the taxi.
We are back in Indy for a while now enjoying life here and staying busy with church, home fellowship, Mary Kay, friends, school, starting a co-op with homeschool, soccer, sewing, and the list goes on.
Blessings to you
